Diaper Bag Organization

If there’s one thing that I love about my bag, it’s that it helps me stay organised. Everything has its place, and most of the time that place is easily accessible. Here are six simple tips for a more organized diaper bag. Label Each Pocket Buying a diaper bag with twenty different pockets sounds like a great way to stay organised. Unfortunately, this is only half the battle. Pockets only keep you organised if you know exactly what’s inside each one. Choose a purpose for each pocket and stick to it. After a few weeks of use, you’ll know exactly where everything is at all times. Labels are also a good idea, especially if you’re not the only person using the bag. Keep Most Accessed Items on Hand Make a list of the things you use most and keep them easily accessible at all times. If style isn’t an issue, most things can be clipped onto the outside of the bag pretty easily. Otherwise choose a pocket that’s either on the outside or near the top. This mightn’t seem like a big deal but when you’re hands are full, it’s super helpful.

Save Time With Second Items If you’ve got two kids, you’re likely to find that just packing and unpacking can be a big job all on it’s own. Do this twice a day and those minutes can really add up. The best way to solve this problem is to invest in a few items that never leave your bag. Travel size creams are both cheap and refillable. And a second set of cups and x also won’t break the bank. It will however save you at least five minutes per day. Zip Lock Food Bags If you’re anything like me, you’ll find that snacks have a strange habit of getting lost in diaper bags. You throw in something for your toddler to eat later and you don’t find it again until three weeks later. Obviously this is far from efficient, let alone hygienic. I now use zip lock bags for all things edible. I have one for each child so it also keeps things from getting mixed up. The result; no more lost snacks or crumbs. Simply divide up your gear according to when you need it and then assign a wet/dry bag to each group. Regardless of how much gear you’re carrying, everything will stay easily accessible at all times. Needless to say, this only applies if you choose bags that are different colours. Cut Back on Gear Finally, one of the most common causes of a disorganised mommy is simply carrying too much. Take a look at all the gear you’re carrying around each day. How much of it do you really need? The less you carry, the easier things are to find. And you also get a lighter bag to boot. It’s also well worth turning your bag upside down at least once a week. You’d be surprised to learn just how much rubbish you’re carrying around each day without even knowing it.
